Alpine Bloom Hat MCN Kit – Dark Honey + Cherry Blossom + Royal Purple
This Alpine Bloom Hat kit contains a skein of MCN Sock in the Dark Honey colourway and two mini skeins of Mohair/Silk Select Lace, one each of the Cherry Blossom and Royal Purple colourways. The Dark Honey colourway is a mix of various shades of light golden brown. The Cherry Blossom colourway is a mix of various shades of bright pink while the Royal Purple colourway is a subtle mix of various shades of dark but bright purple. The suggested pattern is NOT included in this kit.
The Alpine Bloom Hat is knit in the round and written for a sport weight yarn with a fun to knit colourwork pattern. In my version, pictured here, I used my Sock Two yarn (a heavier fingering weight yarn) as the main colour and for the contract colour, I used 3 strands of Mohair/Silk Select Lace held together throughout. For the leaf sections, I used two strands of Deep Pink with 1 strand of Honeysuckle and for the flower sections, I used two strands of Honeysuckle with 1 strand of Honeysuckle. This creates a warm but lightweight fabric and my colourwork came out very even with a slightly smaller gauge using the recommended needle. MCN Sock is a heavier fingering weight yarn that contains 70% superwash merino wool, 20% cashmere and 10% nylon. Each skein is approximately 115 g and 385 m (425 yards). Mini Mohair/Silk Select Lace is a 1-Ply heavy lace-weight yarn that contains 70% kid mohair and 30% silk. Each skein is approximately 25 g and 197 m (216 yards).
