Halifax
I’m in Halifax visiting my friend B. and her family at the moment. I arrived in Halifax very late on Thursday night since my flight was more than 3 hours late. Long story.
Usually when I visit, we (B. and another friend) go for a girls day trip out to the Valley (Wolfville area) which we did today. We have a set plan of stops developed over the years. The first stop is the Wolfville Farmers Market, then to Gaspereau Valley Fibres which a great yarn store on a farm just outside of Wolfville. My friends kindly added this stop for my benefit. Today, I was good so I just bought 1 skein of malabrigo Baby Silkpaca Lace in Fucshia (deeper pink than shown in the picture) and 1 braid of handpainted merino by Pherem Fibres. B. bought a book about needle felting with some supplies for her oldest daughter.
Our next stop was the Union Street Cafe where they have the most amazing Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake. The restaurant had no power when we arrived but we were still able to have lunch as they had a buffet and of course, we had our cheesecake. We always reserve our pieces of cheesecake before we order. After lunch, we stopped at a couple of different Frenchy’s (used clothes).
I bought a few shirts and a hoodie and B. got a few t-shirts for her daughters. We all had a great day topped by a BBQ when we got home.
This trip is also partly a business trip for me as The Loop in Halifax is hosting a trunk show for me on Saturday, June 22nd. I will be at the store all day and I bought lots of yarn (only about 60% of the yarn is up on the website at the moment), shawl kits and knitted samples with me for the show. There are more details here on the event writeup on The Loop’s facebook page. I’m looking forward to the show and hopefully I will get to see lots of items knitted using my yarn.
I visited The Loop yesterday to discuss details with Mimi (owner) about the trunk show and to bring in 12 skeins of my new Merino Single Ply Fingering yarn for the week. ETA: Here is a picture of the display of my yarn at the Loop.
