Twist 2013
The 2nd Annual Twist Fibre Festival was on August 24-25th this year. I shared a booth again with my friend Francine of Fancy That – Creations by Fancine and we were given the same booth as last year (#55 on the corner). This year’s event was much bigger than last year and it was very well attended even on Sunday. The weather even co-operated this year so that it was pleasantly warm instead of super hot like it was last year.
We arrived on Friday afternoon in Saint-Andre Avellin, Quebec when we stayed at Auberge Petite-Nation where a lot of other vendors stayed. We met a few of them including Stephanie from A La Maille Suivante and Kathryn, Julie and Maureen from Riverside Studios (Julie has pictures of our group on her blog post here) while we were relaxing by enjoying a beer and knitting out on the patio before setup began.
There was a good mix of vendors at this year’s Twist Fibre Festival. There were a number of vendors selling yarn like La Maison Tricotee (shown) which was the booth across the way from us, fibre like Wellington Fibres with boxes of fibre (shown), bags of all kinds like Zig Zag Stitches (shown), jewelry like My Jacket Pocket (shown), needlefelt kits like Feltastic Fashion, pottery (yarn bowls, mugs, buttons) and more.
I did make a few purchases at Twist. My first purchase, after I had made my first few sales, was this lovely sheep mug from Laura Sheppard Handmande which I had been planning on buying ever since Laura tweeted a picture of the sheep mug. I bought this lovely leaf and rose necklace from My Jacket Pocket and these two lovely skeins of superwash merino/ nylon sock yarn from Riverside Studios. I’m thinking of making the Cheshire Cat Shawl with these two skeins.
We had a great time at Twist this year catching up with people we had met last year and meeting lots of new people. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth. We are already looking forward to next year.
