Silk Hankies, A New Colourway, and Other News
I started dyeing up silk hankies (matawa) in January and recently added them for sale to my website. Matawa are 100 % silk hankies with dozens of layers in each hankie. Each layer can be spun one at a time or can be drafted (stretched) and knitted directly. There are several silk hankies in each 1 oz (28 g) package. I have also created a few 1/2 oz (14 g) packages to enable people to give this a try with only a small investment.
A few weeks ago, I created a new colourway, Lulu’s Folly, at the request of my friend, Michelle. A mutual friend, Louise (Lulu), got several bright streaks added to her hair and Michelle wanted me to use Louise’s new colourful hair as the inspiration for the colourway. Here’s a picture of Louise holding the skeins that she bought in this new colourway. I think that it turned out quite well and matches her hair.
I will be a vendor at The Gathering in Port Hope, Ontario on Saturday, May 3. This will be my third year attending this event and I’m looking forward to it. I have also recently booked a booth at the Twist Fibre Festival in August, and a table at the Wolfe Island Fibre Festival in September. My friend, Francine of Fancy That – Creations by Francine, will be attending this events with me. You can find a complete list of events that I am attending on my event page.
I place all announcements on the Yvieknits Yarns Facebook page and in my Yvieknits Yarns group in Ravelry.
